5 Days Marangu Route Kilimanjaro Joining Group

Climb Africa’s highest peak via the popular Marangu Route on this 5-day joining group trek. Known as the “Coca-Cola Route,” Marangu is the only route on Mount Kilimanjaro that offers hut accommodation, making it a great option for trekkers who prefer more comfort compared to camping.

This route follows a gradual trail through rainforest, moorland, and alpine desert, leading to the summit at Uhuru Peak. Joining a group makes the climb more affordable and social, while still being guided by experienced mountain guides and supported by a professional crew.

Day 1 – Marangu Gate to Mandara Hut

After registration at the park gate, begin your trek through the lush rainforest. The trail is well-maintained and offers chances to spot monkeys and birds along the way.

Arrive at Mandara Hut for dinner and overnight.

Day 2 – Mandara Hut to Horombo Hut

Leave the forest behind and enter the moorland zone with stunning views of the mountain. The landscape opens up, offering great photo opportunities and a clear view of Mawenzi Peak.

Arrive at Horombo Hut for dinner and overnight.

Day 3 – Horombo Hut to Kibo Hut

Continue your trek across the alpine desert zone, where the landscape becomes more rugged and dry. This section prepares you for the summit attempt.

Arrive at Kibo Hut, rest, and prepare for the midnight summit climb.

Day 4 – Kibo Hut to Uhuru Peak to Horombo Hut

Begin your summit attempt around midnight, hiking slowly to the top of Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa.

After reaching the summit and celebrating, descend back to Horombo Hut for dinner and overnight.

Day 5 – Horombo Hut to Marangu Gate

After breakfast, descend through the rainforest to the gate, where you will receive your summit certificates before departure.
