7 Days Lemosho Route Kilimanjaro Joining Group

Climb Africa’s highest peak via the beautiful and less crowded Lemosho Route, one of the most scenic trails on Mount Kilimanjaro. This route offers outstanding views, diverse landscapes, and excellent acclimatization, making it one of the best choices for summit success.

This 7-day joining group trek is perfect for travelers seeking a quieter start, gradual ascent, and a well-paced itinerary while sharing the adventure with climbers from around the world.

Day 1 – Lemosho Gate to Mti Mkubwa Camp

After registration, begin your trek through the lush rainforest along a quiet and less crowded trail. The forest is rich in wildlife, and you may spot monkeys and hear birds along the way. Arrive at Mti Mkubwa Camp for dinner and overnight.

Day 2 – Mti Mkubwa Camp to Shira Camp 1

Leave the rainforest behind and enter the moorland zone, where the landscape opens up with wide views. The trail gradually climbs, offering beautiful scenery and a sense of remoteness. Arrive at Shira Camp 1 for dinner and overnight.

Day 3 – Shira Camp 1 to Shira Camp 2

Continue trekking across the Shira Plateau, one of the highest plateaus in the world. The route offers stunning panoramic views of the mountain and surrounding landscapes. Arrive at Shira Camp 2 for dinner and overnight.

Day 4 – Shira Camp 2 to Lava Tower to Barranco Camp

Trek toward Lava Tower to gain altitude and support acclimatization. After reaching a higher elevation, descend to Barranco Camp, following the “climb high, sleep low” principle. This day is important for adaptation and offers dramatic scenery.

Day 5 – Barranco Camp to Karanga Camp

Start the day by climbing the famous Barranco Wall, a challenging but rewarding section with incredible views. Continue trekking across ridges and valleys with unique alpine landscapes. Arrive at Karanga Camp for dinner and overnight.

Day 6 – Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp

Continue your trek toward Barafu Camp, the base for your summit attempt. The terrain becomes rocky and exposed as you approach higher altitude. After arrival, rest, have an early dinner, and prepare for the midnight climb.

Day 7 – Barafu Camp to Uhuru Peak to Mweka Camp

Begin your summit attempt around midnight, trekking steadily toward Uhuru Peak under the stars. Reaching the summit is a life-changing achievement, offering breathtaking views from the highest point in Africa. After celebrating, descend to Mweka Camp for dinner and overnight.
