7 Days Machame Route Kilimanjaro Joining Group
Take on Africa’s highest peak via the scenic Machame Route, one of the most successful and beautiful routes on Mount Kilimanjaro. Known as the “Whiskey Route,” this trail offers diverse landscapes and excellent acclimatization, making it a top choice for climbers aiming to reach the summit.
This 7-day joining group trek includes an extra acclimatization day, increasing your chances of success while allowing you to fully enjoy the journey with fellow adventurers from around the world.
Day 1 – Machame Gate to Machame Camp
After registration, begin your trek through the lush rainforest, where the trail is shaded and full of life. The path can be muddy but offers chances to spot monkeys and colorful birds along the way. Arrive at Machame Camp in the afternoon for dinner and overnight.
Day 2 – Machame Camp to Shira Camp
Leave the rainforest behind and enter the moorland zone, where the landscape opens up dramatically. The trail becomes steeper, rewarding you with stunning views of the mountain and surrounding valleys. Arrive at Shira Camp for dinner and overnight.
Day 3 – Shira Camp to Lava Tower to Shira Camp
Trek toward Lava Tower to gain altitude and support acclimatization. Spend some time at higher elevation before descending back to Shira Camp, following the “climb high, sleep low” principle. This day helps your body adjust while offering incredible mountain scenery.

Continue your trek across alpine terrain toward Barranco Camp. The trail offers breathtaking views and a chance to experience the unique landscapes of Kilimanjaro. Arrive at Barranco Camp for dinner and overnight.
Day 5 – Barranco Camp to Karanga Camp
Start the day by climbing the famous Barranco Wall, a steep but manageable section with amazing views. Continue across ridges and valleys while enjoying the dramatic scenery. Arrive at Karanga Camp for rest, dinner, and overnight.
Day 6 – Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp
Trek toward Barafu Camp, the base for your summit attempt. The environment becomes more rugged and barren as you gain altitude. After arrival, rest, have an early dinner, and prepare for the midnight climb.
Day 7 – Barafu Camp to Uhuru Peak to Mweka Camp
